FOUR FREEDOMS: President Franklin D. Roosevelt put forth the four freedoms Americans should enjoy; Freedom of speech and worship, freedom from want and fear during his 1941 State of the Union speech. Later that year FDR commissioned this statue to illustrate the theme and honor Madison's own Colin P. Kelly, who is recognized as the first hero of World War II. The statue is in Four Freedom's park near the Madison County Court House.<br />
